DICILLO INTERIORS is New York City based company that specializes in high quality decorative finishes for residential and commercial spaces. Stephen Di Cillo’s clients include leading designers, architects, decorators, and contractors. He firmly believes that a strong working partnership between the client, designer, and artist is essential for the truly successful realization of any project.
Di Cillo has recently created a new line of original stenciled wall projects that emerged after years of investigation into his own art work. While maintaining a strong sense of modern, contemporary ideas the stencils are grounded in the timeless roots of art history. The new wall projects utilize universal theories of pattern, beauty, space and light, and present a visual experience that accentuates and transforms the space.
Stephen Di Cillo is an artist living and working in New York City. He received his BFA in Fine Art from The University of Old Dominion in Norfolk Va. Upon graduation and with a grant from the Virginia Museum DiCillo moved to NYC to expand his artistic horizons in the art capitol of the world. Some of his early experiences included building two lofts (one to live in) from scratch, learning electricity, plumbing and construction in the process. While continuing his artwork DiCillo auditioned and became a member of the NY Arts Institute with Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs and Larry Rivers on the board of Trustees. He performed in “Naked Lunch” by William Burroughs and “Torrents of Spring” by Ivan Turgenev.
Upon leaving the Arts Institute, DiCillo devoted the next five years to perfecting his decorative painting skills while working with designer John Saladino and other top New York designers. DiCillo then took an artistic sabbatical and committed the next 15 years to his own work while still maintaining his interest and connection with decorative wall treatments. His artwork presented in shows has generated positive critical reviews from the New Yorker, The Review Magazine, Time out, and Art in America. His paintings have sold internationally, most recently to the noted artist Jonathan Lasker.
